CHAIRMAN KELLY called the Senate Rules Committee meeting to order
at 2:10 p.m. Present were Senators Leman and Kelly, with Senators
Torgerson and Taylor participating in the meeting via the
teleconference network. Ted Popely, project director, was also in
attendance.
CHAIRMAN KELLY stated the only order of business before the
committee was the renewal of the contract between the House and
Senate leadership and Ron Somerville. He explained Mr. Somerville
had been on contract through August 1998, and Senate President
Miller has written a letter requesting the contract be extended
through January 19, 1999. Mr. Somerville is being paid at Range
21, with expenses not to exceed $3,000. The expenses, to date, for
the 1998 calendar year total approximately $1,000. He added that
Speaker Phillips and President Miller are in favor of the contract
extension.
SENATOR LEMAN moved adoption of the professional services contract
assignment and amendment for Ron Somerville. Senators Torgerson,
Taylor, Leman and Kelly all voted "Yea." CHAIRMAN KELLY stated the
motion carried.
There being no further business to come before the committee, the
meeting adjourned at approximately 2:20 p.m.
